Rebecca writes, “Dear Laura, today I was talking to Michael Mulligan, the Manager at Key Bank in Seattle Washington. He asked me “Can Hypnosis help someone with a gambling addiction?” I said ” I’m sure it can, but I have never worked with someone with a gambling addiction. I’ll look into it. You website is the first one I found. I see you have some nice hypnosis CD’s available. I would like to learn more about how to help someone with a gambling addiction.”
Overcoming any addiction works essentially in the same way. People are addicted to something that helps them to meet particular needs. To get over that addiction – permanently – the person needs to find something that would help him to meet those needs in a way that more appropriately contributes to his well-being.
The person may or may not be consciously aware of what benefits he is deriving from gambling or of any other addiction. Aside from desire for more money; it may be to experience excitement, a rush from playing the game; for some people it’s to demonstrate the skills they have developed in playing the game if the game does require a skill; for some people it’s a way to take a vacation from what they need to deal with in their daily life.
If you are conducting a hypnosis session, you may ask the person’s subconscious what needs is he trying to meet through gambling and then you can also engage the person’s subconscious to come up with creative ways of meeting those needs in more appropriate and constructive ways.
You may also benefit by working with Stop Gambling Addiction hypnosis, subliminal, supraliminal or supraliminal plus CDs
